ORLANDO — Tech·Ed served as a launching pad for numerous new Microsoft releases, many of which were demonstrated during the keynote. But Microsoft’s partners were also in full force at the show, with a series of releases and updates designed to help Microsoft users get the most out of their products.

Bamboo Solutions announced the release of Bamboo MashPoint, a free platform that enables integration of external data sources in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. Bamboo MashPoint provides a unifying framework, allowing Bamboo Web Parts to communicate and interact, adding more power and functionality to Bamboo’s market leading portfolio of products.

Gemalto, a digital security company, announced Instant Badge Issuance (IBI), a smart card identity badge creation system that complements Microsoft’s Identity and Access solutions and enables enterprises to produce employee IDs locally in minutes. IBI works directly with Microsoft Active Directory and Identity Lifecycle Manager to load digital certificates directly onto the smart card. Employees use a single, converged badge to secure access to facilities, networks and applications across the company.

NetApp released a new line of network-attached storage units—the FAS3100 series—which the company said can serve files 40 percent faster. It also introduced its Storage Acceleration Appliance, which it said is the first caching appliance available from a major storage systems vendor. It can be used to accelerate performance at the data center, where the central data repository is located, or to improve response time and enhance collaboration within remote offices.

Neverfail, a software company providing affordable continuous availability and disaster recovery solutions, announced Neverfail ClusterProtector, as the latest enhancement to its Neverfail Continuous Availability Suite. Also unveiled was Neverfail Version 5.4 which supports Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and is being tested with the latest version of Hyper-V.

OpenSpan announced the industry’s first product to rapidly service-enable desktop and legacy applications, enabling organizations to move legacy and desktop applications off the desktop so that they can reduce license and maintenance costs, improve manageability and control, mitigate risks and expedite the path towards SOA.
