MetaVis Moves into Security

August 10, 2011 —
Content management software provider MetaVis this week will make its first foray into the security space with the release of Security Manager, its tool for managing permissions in SharePoint and Office 365.
The agentless software—no installations on the SharePoint Server are required—lets administrators view and manage permissions in hosted systems as well as on-premise systems, according to the company. Security Managers uses SharePoint APIs, which eliminate the need for server-side controls, SQL Server access or elevated privileges, the company said in an announcement of the product.
With Security Manager, administrators can set up, transfer, enforce or delete permissions and policies, even across multiple sites and farms, all while helping the organization maintain its compliance standards.
The software supports SharePoint Server 2007 and 2010, and Office 365. A is expected to be available today.
